  • Use Tea Tree Oil

Oil of tea tree is a well-known anti-bacterial and anti-fungal remedy. It is a great home based remedy for mild to moderate acne. In a study that compared the efficacy of benzyl peroxide and tea tree oil, tea tree oil showed similar efficacy like benzyl peroxide. Moreover, tea tree oil does not produce as many side effects.

  • Use Cold Water

Take 3.8 L water in a gallon jug and keep it in the freezer for almost 2 hours. After that, pour the cold water in an open jar or bowl and dip your face in the water-filled bowl for 25 seconds (take 5 dips of 5 seconds each). Repeat this process several times a day.

  • A mixture of Crushed Aspirin and Cold Cream

Gently crush a tablet of aspirin and mix it in a teaspoon of any cold cream. Then make a face mask with this solution. Apply it on your face and keep it for 3-5 minutes. Then, rinse your face thoroughly with water.

  • Apply Alum

Alum is mainly used as natural deodorant and coagulant, but it also has astringent and anti-septic properties, so it is capable of shrinking the skin tissues. It is good to get a big block of alum instead of powder alum. Gently apply over the affected areas and do not irritate the pimples.

  • Apply Raw Potato

Slice raw potatoes and apply them to the affected areas of the skin. Raw potato is known for healing as well as anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Avoid Popping Your Pimples

You are applying acne skin care home remedies to fight against acne. That is great. Do not waste all your efforts by popping your pimples. Initially, it may seem good, but it is not beneficial in the long run.

  • Wash Your Face Twice

Washing your face twice a day is good: once in the morning and once in the evening. However, washing for many times may cause irritation and can make your skin dry.

  • Use Moisturizer

Skin is an organ of your body and it needs moisture and water to function properly. However, remember different skin types need different moisturizer, for example, cream based moisturizer is good for dry skin. Every time you wash your face, apply an appropriate moisturizer.

By ensuring proper rest, exercise and stress free life, you can keep your skin healthy and free from acne.

Of course there are more acne skin care home remedies not mentioned, but the remedies described in the above lines are the simplest, easy to follow and more beneficial. Mind you, these are medically non-validated remedies, so one cannot guarantee that they work for everybody on the planet. But these home based remedies have been there for years and many people have found them beneficial, so they can work. Since these remedies are natural, there are no serious side effects associated with them.



  1. I have low to medium intensity Acne, most of which is inflammatory and pains like hell. It’s there in my genes. I followed my doctor’s prescription for two months, where initially my Acne did showed an improvement in the first month. But I couldn’t find any noticeable improvement in my Acne after that. So, I had to quit that after 2 months. Now, it has worsen off and I was looking online for ways to curb my insane Acne and landed on this site. Although, I’m still not sure about home remedies but since these are home based and natural, one thing is sure that there won’t be any side-effects, which is great. Would start with applying raw potato, dip my face in cold water and the Aspirin and cold-cream mixture first. Let’s see how it goes from there. Thanks!
